BIRCH GROVE Fiber Art Texture Blend - 2 ounces
BIRCH GROVE Fiber Art Texture Blend - 2 ounces
A silky blend of cardable fibers for creating art batts, rolags, or other blends to spin into yarn for knitting, weaving, and crochet. One pinch goes a long way! Each bag is subtly different due to the size of the texture and nuance in the dyed bits.
Eucalyptus is exclusive to my shop! I'd never felt anything like it when I found it locally, and loved the way it reminded me of crimpy BFL lamb locks with a mohair halo, and it bright with a silky, airy, clean handle. It is silkier than banana fiber, and similar to bamboo but finer.
It is a plant (cellulose) fiber that is biodegradable, sustainably processed, next to skin soft. The Eucalyptus crimp I used in this blend is a byproduct of textile industry and is zero-waste.
This blend includes:
- EUCALYPTUS CRIMP: a shiny silky white texture that is like the finest baby BFL with a mohair halo. This texture will hold onto the wool nepps in this blend so they won't fall out of your work.
- RECYCLED THREADS. Hand cut wool, cotton, linen, and other high quality weaving remnant threads to create a scrappy aesthetic.
- WOOL NEPPS: Tiny balls of wool that love to be blended with mohair or other long wool fibers. Wool Nepps create a bumpy polka dot texture and are zero-waste.
- WOOL THREAD CLOUD. Dyed black, these dark threads create texture that looks like a close up of the bark striping.
- COTTON NEPPS: flecks of cotton that are happy to be blended with anything and create a soft polka dot texture like an impressionistic painting.
